about

The Excitables were a little known indie rock band from the small Midwestern town of Franklin who were active throughout the 1990s. The two founders, Charles Lamp (guitar and vocals) and Bobbi Bludeni (drums) met through a classified ad when bartering musical equipment. When the two met in person they realized they had similar tastes that led to a friendship, and then the two decided to start playing music together.
After working together as a duo for a few months, they recruited bassist Don Throgtovsky from the local band The Moons & The Suns, and then Scott’s longtime friend, Jamie Sakova came in on keyboards to round out the lineup.
The Excitables shared the stage throughout the 90s with bands such as Modest Mouse, Polvo, The Archers of Loaf, and Superchunk and were known for their innovative brand of indie rock that infused elements of pop, jazz, classic rock and even Brazilian music. Their sound was familiar, yet unique at the time and still holds up amazingly well even after 20 years!
They released one two song 7” on Discplastic Records in 1996 called “3AM” which featured the tracks, “3AM” and “Upside Down”. Two more songs were recorded at the same recording session but were never officially released, “Alcohol” and “Willy Was A Robotripper”. The ladder was featured briefly in an independent skateboarding video that was released to VHS in the late 90s, but this is nearly impossible to find now.
Anthill recordings has acquired the rights to release all four songs recorded in late 1995 and have been remastered from the original DAT tape masters. This brand new 4 song EP now called, “3:00 AM” is available exclusively on Anthill Recordings on a limited run “Digital Record” CDr. It’s a CD that looks like a record and is packaged like a 7” single!
The original pressing of the vinyl 3AM is incredibly rare, so this unique CDr will most definitely become a collector’s item.

That was all a lie. The Excitables was Will Scecina and Justin Wierbonski and was recorded between 2010 and 2016.
